C: k -34-14-12-18-78-58-56-18 (Edale)
allow an extent to be constructed using quarter lead splicing. The quarters
for each lead are selected systematically from the methods above so that 7 and 8
never make any internal places within a section and so just ring a stretched version of Double Norwich. The basic block of 3 courses with a sixths place bobs at 4ths in each course and other calling positions shown is:

where each 4 letter combination represents one lead. Note the quarter lead change is 16 when the first quarter lead is C and 38 when the second quarter is C. In the second half of the lead it is 38 at the 3/4 lead if C is used in the 3rd quarter and 16 if C is used in the 4th quarter.
The extent is then obtained by adding calls to the tenor-together courses to
join the 60 in-course courses together. For example for a 3 part:
I V O H 23456
- 3 35426
- - 3 62534
- - 3 43265
- 53462
3 - - 35264
2 - S 542673
S 54263
2 25463
- 2 23564 |
Repeat twice
The only slight complication is care must be taken to ensure the quarter leads in the tenor reversed course are selected correctly as the 7th is affected by the calls at H and so the standard order of leads is changed (each course is started from a different position); in addition the 3 bobs at 4ths becomes 3 bobs at 5ths between the singles.
Precisely how you would describe this peal (in Central Council terms) is somewhat arbitrary. It contains quarter leads from 3 methods, or half leads from 8 methods, or leads from 19 methods. I prefer the three method description.
