I have long been an admirer of A J Pitman's series of all the work spliced compositions produced over 50 years ago and before the advent of computers to help check and determine the available leads. These arrangements are attempts to provide some additional variety to the original compositions by including split tenors music in the 4 method peals, and to extend the 5 method peal by including extra methods, while keeping to the essential features of the original composition. The series from 7 to 9 methods aims to replace Pudsey and Lincoln with what would now be regarded as more musical methods and bring Cassiobury into the series earlier (Stan Jenner had quite similar ideas some time ago, but used different methods).

Pitman's 5088 (RW 1946, p556; Black Book, p 9) amended to give all the work by the addition of singled-in leads of Bristol
and the substitution of Cambridge for one lead of Superlative. Reduces to 5024 (with better method balance) by substituting L of CSC in 42563 & 54326.
A pure palindrome apart from the odd lead of Cambridge required for all the work. No more the 4 consecutive leads in any one method (and 4 consecutive leads only occurs once).
Stan Jenner was the first to identify the changes required to make this Pitman composition `all the work' and he called it at Sevenoaks, 27 July 1996. It has subsequently been rung on a couple of other occasions and I called it at Butleigh, 17 December 2011 and Easthampstead, 21 December 2011.
